Sometimes life gives you a bit of a punch in the gut. Today was one of those days. I have been looking to make a big change in my life resulting in letting go of something that I have held close. Last year when I finally made the decision to let go…and let the Universe unfold and deliver what I need…I didn’t think that would come in the form of rejection.

I don’t want rejection. I want success.

Even for someone who is skilled at helping others shift forward from an obstacle…I am having a hard time swallowing this one. I really wanted this to work. I set my intentions on being able to let go and move my life forward…. and now I am facing either having to stay right where I am, accept defeat, or just have to pull myself up and look for another way.

I am giving myself a bit of a pep talk here.

I need to find another way. When someone tells you NO what can you do? Accept it or move on. I am choosing to move on.

I refuse to accept this is the answer. I will keep looking, searching, finding another way to make this work. I refuse to let one NO be the end of this journey for me.

Yes, I thought it would be a lot easier.

Yes, I believed once I made the decision to change that it would naturally flow how I wanted it to.

Yes, I realize now, this is a new lesson for me.

I need to learn how to persevere  in the face of being told to quit/give up/stop bothering/ accept defeat/ count your blessings and move on.

Nope. Not this time.

I am going to find another way.

I don’t know how but I BELIEVE and KNOW I will find a way.

Reason, Season, or Lifetime

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you figure out which one it is,
you will know what to do for each person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty;
to provide you with guidance and support;
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.

The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it. It is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

A lot of time people work so hard to “become”.

They go to school to “become” their new profession. They look forward to “becoming” a married person or a parent. They  “become” healthy after an illness or because they want a change. Maybe they “become” retired after many years of dedicated work or work to  “become” more trusting, open, intuitive… or another deep desire that they have always wanted.

Many people are so focused on becoming or arriving at the next milestone…. they miss the point of just “being.”

Becoming and being go hand in hand. One does not lead to another but they are interdependent. When you can just BE you will BECOME all that you want. When you are BECOMING you are BEING who you really are.

How aware are you of what you are trying to “become” while learning to just “be” who you are?

How are you just “being” and then evolving and “becoming?”

In my life I am purposely shifting from the mindset becoming into being. I am deeply aware of my decisions, thoughts, and the actions that help me becoming more of what I want to be.

And as I  do this, I am becoming and being more of myself.

THAT is my authentic awakening.

Today was a great day.

As I write this, I find myself asking “What makes something a great day?”  Now that IS  a good question. For every person this answer will be unique and likely to change over time. I realize that it all starts with me…and the moment I begin my day.

Each day it might be something new but for most days to rise to the level being “great”…the following needs to happen:

  • I spoke my truth
  • I did something creative for myself
  • I spent time outside enjoying the beauty around me
  • I cuddled with my children
  • I spent time alone with my thoughts
  • I read a book, just for the heck of it
  • I did something for my body to feel strong
  • I thought of others who are suffering more than I am
  • I told someone I loved them
  • I thought about who I am and what I want from my life
  • I refused to listen to some type of judgment or expectation that others were putting onto me
  • I thought about how to make this world a little better with my actions
  • I took a risk and put myself “out there”
  • I changed my mind on something and gave myself permission to let go of the guilt
  • I took notice of my thoughts and challenged them
  • I helped someone else challenge their own stories and thoughts
  • I believed in the power of possibility
  • I kept a commitment I made to myself
  • I prioritized something important to me and honored it
  • I wondered how I was making a difference
  • I practiced mindfulness and breathing techniques
  • I thought about my greater purpose on this planet
  • I read some great information that supercharged my brain
  • I felt gratitude for all that I have

Most importantly, I learned something about myself  during this great day…which is…I can choose to have a great day every day.

It’s up to me to create each day into “great”.

I get to make my decisions, create my daily practices, think my thoughts, and act upon what I wish. The power of “great” lies within me. I am great, and therefore, all I do, think, and experience can be great too. I just need to look for it and find it.

I will have a great day every day.

I just need to commit to this every morning and make it happen.

It has been much too long since I have blogged here. I am very much still on my path of awakening and realize how much I miss this time of mindful writing and how much I enjoy this process. I am happy to be back on track now and intend to make this self-reflection, awakening the voice within blog a regular practice again.

So today I return to this blog to get back to my journey, my awareness, and continue awakening to more authentic parts of myself. I am happy to be back.

Recently I had my astrological birth chart read. Now I have always been a self-help, personal development junkie…and this reading has added to my desire to learn even more. I decided to have my birth chart read because I was curious and wondered what I could learn new about myself. I wouldn’t say I “learned” anything new or earth shattering but it was VERY validating.

I decided to have my birth chart read because I wanted to gain more insight into myself. I love personal growth and development in lots of different venues: psychics, tarot cards, self coaching, work with a life coach,  workshops, and more. The chart reading is from a map of the sky from the moment of my birth. If you haven’t ever had one before, it’s fun and insightful.

It was rather validating to have a professional reader (who has never met me) give such an accurate, objective description of who I am and how I show up in this life. I am so grateful that I went through this process and will treasure my reading for  years to come. I have a recording of it so I look forward to listening to it repeatedly.

What did I learn?

I am in the midst of a major, revolutionary time in my life time. Yes, from 2010-2012, I am undergoing one of the most influential transitions of my life. This is the time that I have been documenting during this blog and in my personal journals and paintings. The chart clearly shows this time is a pivotal personal transition. This is a time of a huge awakening because it influences everything for the rest of my life.

Now this rocked me to my core because:

  • I knew I was going through this transition for the past few years
  • I have realized how big this is for myself
  • I didn’t realize it is one of my most important events of my life
  • This is my “midlife opportunity” (or some would call a midlife crisis) and I am embracing it fully
  • According to the reader, I am awakening to the core purpose that I came into my life. (Yay!)
  • I am learning to break the rules and reinvent myself through ‘awakening” experiences. These are unpredictable and great revolutions of my life.
  • During this time I created two websites with the word “awakening” in it. The first one is this one, and the second one is  Awaken Creativity Coaching website.

This is so validating for me because for a while I wondered for a while if I was going a bit crazy.

I was yearning for so long to find my “right path” and everything I was experiencing was a part of it. Now I realize I was on my path and indeed, I am heading in the direction that IS right for me. I knew it all along…just always have to keep trusting my inner wisdom.

Now I’m ready to keep on going!

My 10 year old daughter shared with me this poem she wrote yesterday and I was so touched by it I wanted to share.

A Prayer

A prayer for the songs.

A prayer for the butterflies.

A prayer for the animals.

A prayer for the birds.

A prayer for the plants.

A prayer for the trees.

A prayer for the people.

A prayer for the world.

A prayer for the sun.

A prayer for the moon.

A prayer for the stars.

A prayer for the future.

A prayer for the past.

A prayer for freedom, love, friends and hope.

A prayer for life.

Recently I have discovered the joy, the wonder, and the amazing fulfillment of creativity coaching. This is an incredible field where professional coaches will work to support you achieving your creative dreams and desires. There is something amazing about working with a coach who will not only challenge you and  your belief systems (am I too old to go back to art school?) but also champion you to seize opportunities that the Universe delivers your way.

The field of creative coaching is new and certainly isn’t as big as life coaching is now but it appears to be growing. People are wanting and needing a way to connect to their creative source and having a trained professional who knows how to guide you is an amazing experience. I have worked with a creativity coach and I can say that it is probably the #1 thing I did for myself, my confidence with my art, and believing that my artwork is just as important to me as Piccasso’s was to him.

If you haven’t tried it, I recommend trying out this Cultivating Creative Dreams session with this creative coach and discovering how you can create the life, work, and creative expression you really want. It doesn’t matter if you paint or scupt dolls. You can get coached around any issues around creativity, you life or even creating a business.

Try it. Totally worth the investment.
